HOURLY DROP-IN CHILDCARE CENTRE

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I really drop off my kids anytime? YES! We offer childcare on your schedule. If you need a few hours or all day, we are available. Don't forget we are closed Sundays and we do have a limits on the number of children we can accept. Just click on Reserve Now button above to book in your preferred time.

Is there a chance you may not have room for my child?

Of course. Think of us like a restaurant we have a certain number of table and chairs available and when all the seats are full you have to wait and of course we need enough staff to provide service, just like a restaurant. Also like a restaurant do we allow a few of our spots to be reserved. What are your staff qualifications? We perform criminal background checks and require our staff to be First Aid certified. We follow the guidelines for Alberta Child Services for staff qualification which ensures our staff have training and certified in Early Childhood Development. Are you a licensed daycare? Yes. We are licensed by Alberta Child Services and Accredited by AELCS. Do I have to schedule a tour? No! But if we are too busy we may not be able to give a tour especially during our busy hours of 9am to 3pm Monday through Friday. If my child is uncomfortable with change or new environments, what are some ways to help him or her with the transition? You can get your child comfortable with transitions by making visits to FunFlex a routine once or twice a week, lengthening the stay each time, until your child is comfortable. We recommend trying us before you need us for a critical appointment that will require a few hours. Bringing a small comfort toy or blanket is also a good idea. Also, let us help! Be ready to let our teachers comfort your child.  And, check with the center for suggestions on what day and time you should visit – less busy times may ensure a more positive experience for your child. What about the "Mommy-Guilt?" Moms tend to feel guilty doing something for themselves without their kids. But, remember, when children attend adult type of activities, often times it’s not fun for them and inevitably they act-out or have a melt down. When you drop them off with us it is a win for everybody! My toddler wears diapers, is that okay? Absolutely. Diapers are welcomed. If your child is in diapers, bring a spare. What if my child is potty training? If your child is toilet training, bring extra clothes in case they are too busy playing to stop. (We will remind them!) Are meals and snacks provided? Snacks and meals are provided at set times and our menu is posted at our front entrance. Can I bring my own snacks and meals? Unfortunately you can not bring in outside food as we have to maintain a nut free environment. We also do not have adequate food storage area for outside food which would be in violation of the Alberta Health Regulations. The only exception we make to this rule is to accommodate dietary restrictions or allergies. How do we find out about special events and activities? Special events and activities are posted on our Facebook page. Do you offer bus service from local schools? Yes. To see what schools we currently transport to check out of Services page. How do you keep our kids safe? Safety is our number one priority! From the facility design to our strict drop off and pick up policies, we make sure the kids are safe. We  require every adult to show a photo I.D. when picking up children, no exceptions! In addition,  nobody can enter or exit the child play area without being 'buzzed' in by our staff.
